How can an unknown, untrusted hotline raise substantial funds without paid advertising? By leveraging the power of vibrant, online trans communities, #WeSeeUs transformed trans pride into an act of resistance. We built a community movement around an organic influencer campaign, celebrating Trans Day of Visibility with a mantra of pride, joy, and visibility. Trans Lifeline was able to raise almost $40K in the first week, going on to surpass their fundraising goal of $2.2 million by an additional 50% (totaling $4 million at year’s end).
